Sophia Kanard

Cassidy Broderick

Company

Cassidy, a 17-year-old Senior at Bishop Diego High School. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old and with SSBA since 2018. Her favorite memory with SSBYD is being a party girl in The Nutcracker with State Street Ballet. This year, she is excited to be participating in her second year of the Emerging Choreographers Program. She is also currently preparing for her role as Alice, in Out of the Box Theater’s fall production of Alice By Heart. Cassidy recently spent the summer at Yale University’s Summer Conservatory for Actors and plans to pursue a BA or BFA in Acting next Fall. She has a strong passion for the art of performing, as well as bringing joy to an audience.

Audrey Messer

Company

Audrey Messer is 15 years old and has danced at State Street Ballet Academy since she was 2. She has attended SSBA’s junior intensives, State Street Ballet summer intensives and The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Chicago five-week Intensive. In 2021, Audrey danced her favorite role: Clara in SSB’s Nutcracker. This year, she is excited to dance the role Heidi in SSBA’s Rudolph.

Marielle Janigian

Company

Marielle is 16 years old and a Junior at Santa Barbara High School. She is very excited to be dancing at the company level with SSBYD this year. This past summer Marielle had the delight of attending the State Street Ballet Summer Intensive. This year she will perform in Waltz of the Flowers in the Nutcracker, and as the lead Penguin in Rudolph. When she isn’t dancing, she enjoys traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. Marielle is very grateful for the many opportunities that SSBA has given her and is looking forward to the 2023-2024 season.

Company

Mia is 15 years old and homeschools through Heartland Charter School. She has been dancing since she was three, and this is her fourth year in SSBYD. She is very excited to perform the role of Rudolph this year, as well as Waltz of the Flowers. When she isn’t dancing, she likes to read, go to the beach, and play with her cat Molly. She is looking forward to another great year of dancing.

Kailyn Galbraith

Company

Kailyn is 14 years old and is currently a freshman at San Marcos High School, where she is in the AAPLE Academy. Kailyn has been dancing since the age of 3 and has been a student at State Street Ballet Academy for about 10 years. This will be Kailyn’s 3rd year as an SSBYD Member and her 1st as a Company dancer. Outside of dance, Kailyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering, listening to music, and playing with her 7-year-old Labrador retriever, Hank. She excited to have the role as Donor in Rudolph, as well as be a Party Girl in Nutcracker. She is looking forward to another great season of dance!

Charlotte Haimerl

Company

Charlotte is 15 years old and in 10th grade. She has been dancing and acting in theater plays, including training at the Ensemble Theater Company, since she was four. She has received training at the Ballet Austin Summer Intensive during summer of 2023, and the State Street Ballet Summer Intensive in summer of 2022. She has been an emerging choreographer for two years. Charlotte has been chosen to dance the role of Clara in this year’s The Nutcracker. She is grateful and excited for the opportunity to perform with the talented State Street Ballet and Academy dancers. She is thrilled to be a part of the SSBYD family. Outside of dance, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with friends, family, and her dog Marley.

Ava Knothe

Company

Ava is 14 years old 9th grader at San Marcos High School. She has been a dancer since the age of 3, and this will be her 4th year in SSBYD. She is so excited to perform as a misfit doll in Rudolph this year, and in Walz of the Flowers in the Nutcracker. This summer Ava spent 5 amazing weeks in Boston with the Boston Ballet School. In her free time, Ava loves spending time with her family & friends, traveling, watching baseball and hockey, and anything that involves the arts. She is looking forward to another great year dancing with SSBYD and going to Festival in Spokane!

Chloe Nydam

Company

Chloe Nydam is 16 years old and a junior at San Marcos High School. She has been dancing at State Street Ballet Academy for 12 years. She is passionate about choreographing and is excited about choreographing another emerging piece this year. She loves being on stage and performing makes her happier than anything else. Chloe is very passionate about singing and she is in the A Capella and Enchante choirs at San Marcos. Chloe also enjoys volunteering at ASAP Cats, reading, being in nature, and spending time with her friends. She is overjoyed to be the Misfit Cowgirl in Rudolph and in Waltz of the Flowers in The Nutcracker. Chloe is so excited to be in Company and is looking forward to an amazing year!

Everley Rohde

Everley Rohde is 14 years old and a 9th grader who studies independently. She has been dancing from 2 years old and cannot wait for a fourth year with SSBYD. This is her 7th year in the Nutcracker. Outside of dance, you will find her reading, traveling, making movies, with friends and family, and playing with her golden doodle, Lucy. She loves assisting younger classes and working with the professional company. Everley is always looking for opportunities to grow. She trained at the State Street Ballet Summer Intensive and this year attended the Boston Ballet Summer Dance Intensive. She had the role of Yukon Cornelia in Rudolph 2022 and is excited to be Clara in The Nutcracker, a role she always dreamed of being.

Loma Murdy

Apprentice 3

Loma is 14 years old and a freshman in high school. At 3 years old, we signed her up for ballet at State Street Ballet Academy, where she has been dancing ever since. Loma has loved performing in The Nutcracker, Rudolph, and other performances where she lights up on stage. This is the year she has been waiting for since she started dance – she gets to be a party girl in the Nutcracker and participate in Festival! She has met so many wonderful life-long friends, instructors, and mentors through dance. She is looking forward to her third year dancing with SSBYD and continuing her passion for dance.

Sophie is 14 years old and an 8th grader at La Colina junior high. She has been dancing with State Street Ballet Academy since she was 3 years old and this will be her third year in SSBYD. This year Sophie is looking forward to being Yukon in Rudolf, and a Party Girl in The Nutcracker. When she isn’t dancing Sophie enjoys crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Lucia is 13 years old in 7th grade. She plays cello in the Strings Program and the Honors Orchestra at school. She has been dancing since 3 years old. This is Lucia’s fourth year at SSBA. She enjoys studying ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and choreography, assisting for younger classes, and dancing and performing alongside friends. Lucia has enjoyed participating in SSBA summer programs and intensives. She is thrilled to be joining SSBYD for her first year. She is very excited to be choreographing her first ever Emerging piece. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at the local animal shelter BUNS, reading, Girl Scouts, knitting and crocheting. Lucia is delighted to be given the opportunity to grow at SSBA and as a member of SSBYD.

Noelle is 12 years old and currently in 7th grade at Goleta valley junior high. Noelle started dancing at age four and has been dancing with state street ballet academy since she was six. Noelle is excited to be a party boy in the Nutcracker and for being a reindeer in Rudolf this year. Outside of dance Noelle likes to read and travel with her family. Noelle is looking forward to this year at state street ballet academy!

Lillian Kanard

Lillian is in 7th grade and has been dancing with State Street Ballet Academy since moving to Santa Barbara in 2017. This year, she is excited to perform in The Nutcracker as a party boy. In addition to dance, Lillian enjoys playing the viola with SB Strings, participating in Cotillon with her friends, drawing and reading.

Cooper Kuzminski

Cooper is 12 years old and has been dancing with State Street Ballet Academy sense she was 2 years old. Cooper loves dancing ballet, jazz, and contemporary and is excited for the upcoming winter recitals. When she is not dancing, you can find her reading, drawing, or hanging out with her family, friends and pets, a dog named Lena Loo, and a cat named Jupiter. She is currently a 6th grader at Mountain View Elementary. Cooper is very excited for her winter roles such as a party boy, reindeer, and an elf.

Sophia is 12 years old and a 7th grader at Goleta Valley Junior High. She had been attending State Street Ballet Academy since she was 6. She has attended the State Street Ballet and Intensive and over the summer played Simba in The Lion King. When Sophia is not dancing, she is reading, baking, hanging out with friends, or traveling with her family.

Chanel Von Yurt

Chanel von Yurt is 12 years old, loves performing, especially dancing, and singing. She has the pleasure of being at SSBA since she was just under 2 years and has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and musical theatre. This is her second year in SSBYD, and she is very excited to perform as a Party Boy this year in the Nutcracker! Chanel had the privilege of performing the role of Teen Arora in Sleeping Beauty at the Granada Theatre, dancing in Rudolph, The Nutcracker, spring performances and summer camps since 2015. She is looking forward to more performances. Chanel is grateful to her teachers Ms. Allison & Ms. Cecily for their continued guidance and instruction as she looks forward to a future in dance.

Aubrey Vowels

Apprentice 2

Aubrey Vowels is in 8th grade. She has been dancing with State Street Ballet Academy since she was 3 years old. Aubrey is looking forward to performing on pointe this year. She loves performing in the Nutcracker each year. When Aubrey isn’t dancing, she enjoys reading, writing, art, and tennis. During the winter she enjoys downhill skiing. In the summer, she spends time wakeboarding on Lake Nacimiento and traveling with her family. Paris has been her favorite travel destination so far.

Marcella Ashlock

Marcella is 12 years old and a 7th grader at La Colina Jr. High. She has been dancing with SSBA since she was 4 years old. Marcella is super excited for her first year with SSBYD and can’t wait to be a battle toy in the Nutcracker this year! When Marcella isn’t dancing, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her friends and family.

Kaitlyn Hewitt

Kaitlyn is a 7th grader at La Colina and has been dancing with SSBA for 3 years. Kaitlyn is excited to be in SSBYD this year, and to be an ice skater in Rudolph, a battle toy, and maid in nutcracker. Outside of dance, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, drawing, and watching sunsets.

Lillian Millazzo

Apprentice 1

Lillian is 12 years old and is in 7th grade at Santa Barbara Middle School. After breaking her arm playing soccer, Lillian found herself back in the dance studio. Immediately, her love of ballet was reignited, and she started honing her dance skills with Jazz and Contemporary. Lillian is looking forward to her upcoming roles as an ice skater, misfit toy, and winter storm, in Rudolph and a battle toy and maid in the Nutcracker. She is excited to be dancing in SSBYD this year and can’t wait for the upcoming performances!

Chloe Navarro

Apprentice 1

Chloe is in 7th grade at La Colina Jr High. This is her 9th year dancing at State Street Ballet Academy and her first year in SSBYD. She is very excited to be a battle toy and a maid in Nutcracker and an ice skater in Rudolph this year. When Chloe is not dancing she enjoys hanging out with her friends and her dog Mavis.

Amanda Kabaretti

Junior

Born in Florence, Italy, Amanda is an 11-year-old sixth grader at Hollister School. She has been dancing at State Street Ballet Academy since the age of 4 training in many styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. She has had the privilege to perform with the professionals of SSB as  “The Young Girl” in Sleeping Beauty, “A Town Girl” in Appalachian Spring, and “The Changeling Child” in A Midsummer’s Night Dream. At SSBA she has performed the shows Thumbelina, Rudolph, Tina the Ballerina, Alice in Wonderland, and The Nutcracker. Outside of dance she enjoys crocheting, jewelry making, playing flute and being a Girl Scout. She is very excited to be a junior in SSBYD and is looking forward to her future in dance.

Ariella Pipes

Junior

Ariella is 13 years old and a 7th grader at Santa Barbra Junior High. Ariella has been dancing for almost 2 years and has just recently joined SSBYD. She is excited for her future in dance and plans to continue it throughout her teenage years. Her favorite role she’s danced is being an Angel in last year’s Nutcracker. She looks forward to being an ice skater in this year’s Rudolph. When she’s not dancing, she likes to draw, read, and spend time with her friends and family.
